The Peruvian regional government of the Amazonas is planning on promoting the work and development of the Comprehensive Tourist Circuit of Kuélap which will include the Kuélap fortress and also the Gocta waterfall. A new contest has been presented by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Mercedes Araoz; its name is "7 Gastronomic Wonders of Peru". The contest is focused on promoting the Peruvian cuisine with a popular vote. To vote go to www.7maravillasgastronomicas.com and choose the dish that will become the "embassador of Peruvian cuisine." A ceremony will be held at the Tourism Training Center (Cenfotur), in Barranco. The city of Ica will host its 44th International Wine Festival during the second week of March. The festival is already well known and it attracts more than 50,000 tourists from outside Ica and outside Peru. The festival shows the different kinds of wine Ica has to offer due to its abundance of grapes. Many agricultural products will be displayed and sold at the festival along with free medical campaigns and artistic shows. The queen of the festival will have to honor to tread grapes for a future fermentation after the election. An electric train that has been left out for many years will be taken over by Provías Nacional, a company that will finish the construction in order to connect the districts of Villa El Salvador, Villa María del Triunfo, San Juan de Miraflores, Surco, Surquillo, San Borja, San Luis, La Victoria and Lima. After many attempts from the government to grant the concession of the electric train to private and international companies, no agreement was made and it was decided to grant it to a Peruvian company by an emergency decree set forth by President Alan Garcia. Fares will be fairly accessible to the public and the project promises to give high quality transportation service to the city of Lima.

The northern city of Trujillo will celebrate its founding anniversary on March 4th with a series of activities for the local and visiting people. Among the celebration activities are music, parades, cultural shows, and a dramatization of the foundation of the city. Trujillo was officially founded by Francisco Pizarro on March 5, 1535 under the name of "Ciudad de Trujillo de Nueva Castilla". "Beaches are not trash cans" is the name of the environmental campaign launched by Peru's Environment Ministry in order to clean the beaches of Lima's coast. The initiative to educate people and create awareness of the hazards and threats to the environment, the ocean and its creatures when trash is thrown and left in the beaches, has been supported by the local authorities of districts like Miraflores, Magdalena, Barranco, Chorrillos and San Bartolo. It is important to create such awareness in order to achieve an environmentally friendly mindset in the beach visitors and public in general.
