Special #3: Andean Adventure

Cuzco/Sacred Valley/Inca Trail/Machu Picchu (9 days/ 8 nights)
from $2,459 €1,775 £1,512

  • Tour Package to Cuzco and surrounding areas.
  • We offer a Price Guarantee for Travel Packages.
  • Top Testimonials, Safety, and Comfort.

There is an unbridgeable gap between mere hearsay about the magic of Cuzco and the actual experience of it: as the center of the Inca Empire which included present day Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina and Bolivia, its millenary architecture reflects the power of that empire and the Spanish empire that usurped. Home to the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu (one of the New World Wonders), this tour is perfect for those seeking to combine the excitement of new adventures, and also find maximum comfort to relax from the pressures of daily life.  The result: a tour designed to show you some of the world’s most amazing places, while ensuring you receive the best service possible. What the American Hiram Bingham did in 1911, you can do in 21st century comfort. You can rediscover the lost sun-god temple of the Incas - Machu Picchu. When the Incas decided to build Machu Picchu, they chose a heavenly place. So, in a certain way, the Inca Trail is a road to heaven. Many hikers consider it to be the most wonderful trail on earth. The Inca Trail is challenging and is ideal for those seeking adventure and a lifetime experience and it is not recommended for those that are not physically prepared for sustained hiking in sometimes rough terrain but we guarantee comfort along with intense adventure.

Day 1: Arrive Cuzco/ Transfer to Sacred Valley

  • After the short flight from Lima to Cuzco (just over 1 hour) you will be transferred to the legendary Sacred Valley, the source of agricultural products for the city of Cuzco since Inca times. There, you will check in to either the beautiful Sol y Luna hotel or the Kuychi Rumi lodge.
  • After settling in, you may wish just to relax in the hotel, acclimating to the altitude while enjoying the majestic scenery, dominated by the imposing peaks of the Vilcanota mountain range.
  • If you have the energy, the local town is well worth exploring with the likelihood of hearing the language of the Incas, Quechua, being spoken as you wander around.
  • Tonight, you can try some of the culinary specialties of the region before a peaceful night’s rest.

Day 2: Sacred Valley Tour

  • After breakfast, you will be taken on a private tour through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to see their awe-inspiring stone structures, which echo the past to this day. These remain important archeological sites for researchers, and still circumvent the lands used by the locals for agriculture.
  • After touring the Sacred Valley, you will return to town where you will dine and get a chance to rest in your hotel.

Day 3: Begin the Inca Trail

  • Wake up bright and early for breakfast and get picked up for private transport to the start of the trail at Km82 where we enjoy a view of Vernoica Snow Mountain.
  • Enjoy the scenery during the 2 hour drive through the Sacred Valley and Ollantaytambo.
  • Begin hiking and take lunch after 3 hours close to the Llactapata Ruins.
  • Continue hiking through lush farmland and woodlands to the first camp at Wayllabamba.

Day 4: Inca Trail

  • After breakfast, begin walking the toughest part of the trail. After 3 hours walking yo will reach the highest point on the Inca Trail, Warmiwañusca, or more commonly known as Dead Woman’s Pass (4,200m), where beautiful panoramic view of the area awaits your arrival.
  • After lunch, continue down to Pacaymayo where we set up camp and have a nutritious dinner.

Day 5: Inca Trail

  • Today you will ascend towards the second most important pass on the trail which lies at 4,000m. You will reach the Inca Ruins of Runkurakay and the Inca citadel of Sayacmarca.
  • Continue trekking towards Puya Patamarka (Cloud level town), another important archaeological monument, where lunch will be served.
  • After a short break we continue walking to Wiñay Huayna (Forever Young), a beautiful Inca construction. We camp near to the ruins and have a well deserved nutritious dinner.

Day 6: Machu Picchu Tour/ Train to Cuzco

  • Wake up early and arrive at the legendary Incan ruins of Machu Picchu. After passing through the main entrance to the ruins you come across the numerous buildings with intricate designs and very complex stone masonry.
  • Climbing up a stone pathway, you reach a building called the Watchman's Hut with a wonderfully impressive view over the ruins and Huayna Picchu towering behind it.
  • At the far end of the ruins, close to Huayna Picchu, is the Sacred Rock. From the Royal Sector you can look straight towards the principle baths and the Temple of the Sun. From overwhelmingly crafted terraces to artistically constructed temples and buildings, the list goes on and on.
  • For the adventurous, a climb up the iconic mountain of Huayna Picchu is a must, as it soars above the surrounding landscape, and from which there are unforgettable views of the expanses around you.
  • In the afternoon, you will take the train to Cuzco and rest at your luxurious hotel.

Day 7: Cuzco City & Ruins Tour

  • Today you finally get the chance to explore the magical city of Cuzco and its environs, where many wonders await.
  • This afternoon, you will tour the city and visit some of the nearby sites: the baroquely-inspired Cathedral symbolizing the explosion of Christianity into the Andean world; the dense and colorful local market; and the many delicious restaurants and bars enjoyed by locals and visitors alike!
  • In the afternoon, you will visit the jaw-dropping ruins of Sacsayhuaman, where gigantic structures of rock were conjoined in perfect symmetry. This ruin is an imposing example of Incan military architecture – a fortress built from massive slabs of granite to safeguard the city from possible attacks by the Antis, an invading force from the East.
  • At Tambo Machay, you will be able to decide for yourself the original purpose of this structure: theories include a resting place for the Inca, a hunting ground, or the site of a water cult. The ruins consist of a number of fountains and a large ceremonial stone bath known as the Bath of the Inca.

Day 8: Cuzco Shopping Tour

  • Today you will visit the many artisan stands where amazingly skilled craftsmen knit beautiful textiles and give shape to pottery, carvings, jewelry and more.
  • At night, you have the option of enjoying Cuzco’s wild nightlife, or making the most of your distinctive hotel and its facilities.

Day 9: Transfer Out

  • Private transfer out of Cuzco.
